Figure Eight

Figure Eight, Castle Hill

A complete Castle Hill transformation centred on a striking pool, with a pergola for shade and shelter, a fire pit for the cooler months and an outdoor kitchen for entertaining — a backyard built to be used all year.

Directly overhead — the figure-eight pool and spa that give the project its name, with the deck and half-court either side

The outdoor room with the fire lit — wood-burning fireplace, TV and full outdoor kitchen under one roof

The figure-eight pool and raised spa at dusk, the alfresco glowing behind

Track-guided blinds lowered the length of the alfresco at golden hour, seen across the pool

Lounge, fireplace and barbecue island sharing one covered deck

Barbecue and range hood set into the clad wall, with pendants over the island

The alfresco, pool and half-court seen together from the far corner

Fireplace, woodstack and island bench lit at dusk

Looking down the alfresco past the window servery to the fireplace

The half-court alongside the pool, with the alfresco opening onto both

The lounge end of the outdoor room, opening to the daybed and pool

The covered deck looking out over the figure-eight pool and spa

Fireplace and kitchen from the deck as the light drops

The open end of the alfresco at dusk, framed by frameless glass and the deck running through

Island bench and stools, with the blinds part-drawn and the daybed beyond

Dining on the deck with the blinds down on the western side

The fire lit and the room warm as the sun goes

The kitchen island with the pool framed through the open corner

Lounge and dining laid out along the deck, open to the pool and court

The deck stepping around the pool, with the spa and court beyond
