We had Chris install an awning and a large carport some 3 years ago and it looks as good today as then. We still get nice comments from visitors. We could not be happier. Best decision we made for our house.

I very rarely give such a high rating for reviews but on this occasion it is warranted. I can't believe how the work carried out has transformed and improved the overall appearance and the quality of the work has had those who have seen it comment how good it looks and thank you Chris for suggesting the garden it certainly makes the appearance much softer than just bricks and mortar.

Our pergola has been built up for about 2 weeks. They did every thing in proper way. Boss Chris is very helpful to give you idea about the style and material. Compare with other builders i think they are a bit more expensive. however, they do give you high quality material and do very good job.

Aussie Outdoor Living replaced my old balcony. It was rotted and needed replacing but for over a year we tried to find someone that could get through the council paperwork and build something that we wanted. Chris from Aussie was the only person who understood our requirements to build a sustainable maintenance free balcony that looked good and would stand the depths of time. The team organised plans, council approval, set a timeframe that was suitable to all of us and actually delivered and built to that timeframe. Amazing to find builders that deliver what they say and were cheerful, friendly and cleaned up at the end. The end product was better than we had actually hoped for when we started and has made an immense improvement to the street appeal of our house. the boys were terrific. They worked hard to get the job done and had a very professional standard that they adhered to. I would not hesitate to recommend Aussie Outdoor Living to anyone wanting a first class job. From the quote, explanation of the payment structure, removal of the existing pergola to the final construction of our new pergola, everything flowed quickly and efficiently. The tradesmen were prompt, friendly and left the area very clean upon completion.

We are really pleased with our new pergola; it has greatly improved our outdoor entertaining area.

We’d like to thank Aussie Outdoor Living for recommending an electrician to us – Chris of Interlight - installed lights and a fan in our pergola which are a great addition.

The only negative would be that the gutters on the outside of our pergola have not been fitted with any type of gutter guard and as we have a number of large trees around us we now need installed a gutter guard protection. Aussie Outdoor Living referred a company to us.

We would not hesitate to recommend Aussie Outdoor Living to anyone considering a pergola.

In the meantime, our own backyard was looking rather sad. A small square of grass, an old timber fence hanging on by a thread and weeds everywhere. Like my parents place, it was also scorching hot in summer, and miserable in winter. The result was that this space was rarely used.

My parents happened to mention to Chris that we were thinking about doing something with our yard, and without any prompting he was onto Google Maps and having a look at the layout. The timing was not quite right, so we never actually had him come around for a look.

Late in 2018 we decided that we could not look at the mess in the backyard anymore and decided to do a makeover, especially with the two kids growing up and needing more space to keep out of each other’s hair. Based on the work he did on my parents place, we didn’t even bother calling anyone else. Chris was at our place almost straight away having a look at the site. With a backyard that sits over 1m above the house, and with an adjacent swimming pool, we really had no idea what was even possible.

We gave a Chris a rundown on what we wanted as an outcome, which was a fairly basic brief consisting of having a new pergola in the backyard where we could entertain/BBQ, where we wouldn’t get wet and which could be used all year. He was measuring and looking at the site from every possible angle, and it was as if he’d already built the whole thing in his head. We had been concerned that our yard just wasn’t suitable for anything, and that it just wouldn’t feel right.

We needn’t have worried. Chris put together a proposal that just blew us away. What started out as “just a pergola” actually turned into a total backyard transformation. Aussie Outdoor Living took care of everything. They put us in touch with a fencer to fix our dodgy fences, he handled all the Council DA process and made it as painless as possible. Through his contacts we also put in a full custom outdoor kitchen.

With a construction team lead by Matt, we watched the transformation begin. When we hit an issue due to some unforeseen site challenges, Chris & Matt were straight onto solutions, updating the design and getting new approvals done without any delay to construction.

The end result is so far above my exceptions that I can’t actually give enough stars to reflect what we now have. The work is top quality, right down to the finest details. Nothing was too difficult for the team. They always left the site clean every day and the disruption was minimal.

The finished product is simply spectacular. To call it a pergola is not accurate. It is an entire Outdoor Living Room, and we now spend most of our time out there! In fact, this year everyone is coming to our place for Christmas!

If you are looking at doing a backyard makeover, we have no hesitation in recommending Chris and Aussie Outdoor Living Team. In fact, we’re already thinking about a Stage 2 ourselves!

Following the initial meeting I was impressed with their vision for what could be created and the quality of their product samples. The quote was also very detailed and gave me confidence that they had understood some of the complications specific to our project and had listened to what I had said.

During the project they always turned up on time and kept me informed of how the various stages were progressing especially in terms of handling all of the council approval paperwork.

Whilst it's certainly possible to get pergolas built for a lower cost, make sure you check the specifications because I found Aussie Outdoor to be of a higher quality in terms of the materials used (aluminium frames) and also there were no hidden extras.

At the beginning of this year my husband and I decided that we would do a major outdoor renovation. Our pool needed work, the old pavers on the terrace were looking tired and had sunk here and there and, in summer we couldn't sit out there without frying! Once the decision had been made we went on the hunt for some expert advice.

Once we met Chris Riley of Aussie Outdoor Living our minds were made up. Chris is a true professional. He kept in contact with us, made us feel that our business was important to him and came up with a lovely design for our pergola. His team are a great bunch, always on time, friendly, professional and tidy. We knew we were dealing with a well oiled machine.

Our outdoor area is now finished and it is beyond our expectations. What a beautiful space we have now. We can now use our terrace year round and it has become our default family room. Our little grandsons think it is the best place ever to ride their scooters! What greater praise can you have.

We knew the pergola was going to be the main structure and we wanted it done right!

Out of the 3 quotes we received, one stood out. Chris from Aussie outdoor living....

1. He showed up for the quote exactly when he said he would. Not too common these days.

2. But not only did we receive a quote, we received a detailed insight on material choices and the pros and cons of each choice, we received multiple roofing structure options as well as suggestions from his own experience on what would work best for us and the reasons why. He even gave us his own opinion/vision on the entire area which was great as we weren't completely there with the whole plan. It gave us some ideas and things we hadn't thought of. We could tell he was very passionate about what he does and it was quite refreshing to see.

3. Once the choice was made he gave us a timeline as well as a very detailed structure of how everything worked, what was to be done and what materials and colours were going to be used. No hidden fine print.

4. Every step was followed to a tee! They even took care of organising the building drawing plans and all council applications forms.

5. Communication was top notch through the entire process. The materials were delivered on time and work commenced without delay.

6. The boys showed up and were very professional in their approach. They were polite and took no shortcuts. Every aspect of the build was followed exactly to specification and done very professionally. Quality of work was exceptional. Once the pergola was completed, they did a final inspection as part of their process, and to my surprise they even made some small improvements that weren't necessary or noticed by me. Very happy with that! Not too many companies would take extra time out to do such things.

To sum up, the final product is so much more than we could of hoped for. It fits in perfectly with our house and is now the envy of all our friends. I am so glad I chose to deal with Aussie outdoor living, such a stress free and smooth experience.

We would definately recommend these guys to anyone who wants a quality outdoor living area. They have the know how, experience and great customer focus.

Chris and his team certainly lived up to their reputation and gave me a positive experience from start to finish, with a level of professionalism that’s not easy to find. The end result was fantastic and I definitely got what I paid for.

At our first meeting with Chris, I was impressed by his professionalism, vision and ideas and this continued throughout the entire process. Chris listened to what I wanted, but was able to see a bigger picture and suggested some very clever and practical ideas that combined to make our space suitable for our specific needs. The project evolved during the Process (we decided at a later stage to replace our retaining wall and fences and opted for a spa instead of a pool) and this was always managed with ease and professionalism by Chris and the staff.

What has struck me through the process from start to finish was the respect towards our family and our home by the construction team, Hayden and Cameron and lead by Matt, who is wonderful to work with, can’t say enough about how easy going and accomodating he is. Todd, who managed the landscaping and has the most incredible craftsmanship, dealt with any issues in a timely manner and would have meaningful conversations to ensure we were happy every step of the way (he regularly went above and beyond to ensure we were thrilled with the end result).

Due to the Covid lockdown, our project was suspended for about 8 weeks. Before they ceased works, they tidied everything up, removed the machinery and left the backyard as operational as possible. Every effort was made to have the backyard project back on track as soon as was practicable,such that the process was amended to allow those workers on site who were allowed to be here. Despite these challenges, the team were adaptable and flexible and kept me informed every step of the way.

What my hubby and I have really valued is that our project is treated with the same respect and care as if they were working on their own home. Matt pops in every few days to check in on the works and is always willing to answer questions or address concerns, however trivial they might be. The attention to detail is honestly, second to none. They worked with us so closely to ensure that we were happy at every point of the process, respectfully, kindly and honestly.

We are about to embark on our front yard transformation now and here is another example of the care that is taken… Chris popped in a few weeks ago to say that he had been thinking about the scope of the project because he just didn’t feel it was going to look as good as it could and came up with a new suggestion which we hadn’t yet considered (the care and thought is as if he is planning for his own home and this is reflective of how he managed our backyard transformation as well). I love his new suggestion and can’t wait for the front yard project to start in the New Year!
